What Does Helping Hands Do?

Helping Hands Ministries serves primarily as a clearinghouse for those in need. Churches, organizations and individuals fund this ministry through generous donations which are carefully dispensed according to prescribed guidelines. All applicants are filed for future reference and for further counseling.

Applications are processed to primarily provide emergency financial assistance with rent and utilities. On occasion, food vouchers or motel rooms for temporary housing are given. In addition, further referrals are presented for organizations such as the Salvation Army, Community Counseling and the Health Department. Finally, counseling is offered along with prayer and a Christ-centered servant attitude.

How does it work?

  1. An applicant must make an appointment with the intake counselor.
  2. The application is processed and more information is gathered to access the need.
  3. The need is validated.
  4. A Case Review Committee reviews each case for processing on a weekly basis.
  5. Checks are paid directly to vendors and not to applicants.
